Lighthouses – in conversation (création)

In the form of successive residences between the web (viceetversa.tumblr.com), La Chambre Blanche (Quebec) and Transcultures (Mons), Alice Jarry the Montreal visual and media artist, and Vincent Evrard (aka Ogre) the creative programmer from Liège, work together on processes and materials of diffraction. After initially working jointly in Québec City, at La Chambre Blanche, this cross-residence in its second and final phase (which also falls within the framework of the European Pépinières) in Transcultures.

Lighthouses is a light and sound installation in situ composed of dichroic glass, mirrors, engines and Dels. Diffraction is central to this project: approached as material process, and collaborative space, the installation evolves according to the “collisions” between operating various human and non-human layouts that work together to produce unstable signals. The work is transformed into a spatio-temporality: elements move, generate light patterns, unpredictable sounds, color combinations and unique shades according to their positions, collisions and dialogue, thereby modulating the place continuously. In contrast to a still object, Lighthouses is a living laboratory, a progressive work that is in the future, open to accidents and tilting moments.
